ChinData build hyperscale Data Centre in China
ChinData, a leading Data Centre provided in Asia, who makes a significant percentage of its money from TikTok's parent company ByteDance, recently launched a 50MW Data Centre in North China's Shanxi province.
Could we be looking at something similar for TikTok’s Irish Data Centre?
TikTok to build new Data Centre in Ireland
Well known social media platform TikTok plans to build a €420m Data Centre in Ireland by 2022.
As a result, this will create hundreds of new jobs in Ireland.
TikTok has grown their staff from 20 people in early 2020 to 900 at the end of 2020 with 200 more employees coming onboard in the new year.
Equinix to build 3rd Perth Data Centre late next year
Equinix have announced the construction of a new Data Centre in Perth known as PE3, at a cost of $54AUD. PE3 will be Equinix’s 3rd Data Centre in Perth, while it will be their 18th overall in Australia.
The first phase is targeted to open in Q4 of 2021.
Perth is a strategic part of Australia’s Internet infrastructure due to its proximity to Southeast Asia and direct connectivity via two submarine cable links, with a third line currently in construction.
SSE Renewables and Echelon Data Centres team up for substation in Wicklow
SSE Renewables and Irish-owned Echelon Data Centres are to jointly develop a 220KW substation at the Avoca River Business Park in Arklow, Co Wicklow. The development is expected to require an investment of about €50 million.
The new infrastructure is intended to facilitate the development of SSE’s large-scale 520MW offshore wind farm, along with Echelon’s new €500 million 100MW Data Centre.
Echelon Data Centres are also constructing a 45,000sq m Data Centre site at the Avoca River Business Park.
170 full-time jobs for Arklow will be created between the two developments.
