Construction Industry first as GagaMuller Group Secures Disruptive Technologies Funding

Back in August, the Irish Government announced a €95 million fund for ground-breaking projects under the Disruptive Technologies Fund Call 3. The government invests in disruptive technologies in areas such as healthcare, food, factory safety, maritime and industrial heating systems.

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar TD, the Minister for Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD and the Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Robert Troy TD, announced that 29 exciting new projects succeeded in securing funding under the third round of the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund.

The funding has never been awarded to a consortium in the construction industry previously, where typically it has been targeted more seasoned industries such as Healthcare, Finance etc...

However, fast emerging as a unicorn scale up in the construction industry GagaMuller Group is very proud to announce that we are one of these successful 29 projects.

We are part of the first ever construction consortium to receive this funding, now leading and representing disruptive innovation for the entire construction industry. A true testament which highlights the positive impact GagaMuller Group is having on innovating, disrupting, and integrating digital solutions to make the construction industry more sustainable and efficient.

The project we are managing is called A-EYE. We are partnering with TUD (Technological University Dublin) and Evercam where we aim to unleash the power of human potential to unlock a digital and sustainable future. Our solution is to develop a fully connected site. Other industries such as Finance and Trading are fully reliant on data and analytics and yet in Construction, we appear to be unaware of the powers of what it can achieve, especially around the indirect impacts a digital solution can have on our economy and environment.

It is this vision that has inspired our success to date: we aim to develop custom integrations with our technologies and other site data points such as drone surveys, point clouds, 3D models, Evercam’s site camera, turnstiles and much more, to build a master birds eye view of a project. We aim to develop automated dashboards and reporting on progress, flagging early warning and risk management, reducing double handling of material and waste, and developing artificially intelligent predictive analytics across the lifecycle of the project.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr Varadkar said that companies working on the existing DTIF projects are at the leading edge of their sector.

"They are pushing boundaries. They are driving change. They are devising better and more effective ways of doing business. They are our future, and we want to keep investing in them", he stated.

The Tánaiste said that climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing this generation and previous DTIF projects have put a big emphasis on sustainability.

"We need to see more projects with strong, positive, climate impacts like these coming through. To encourage this, all applications must demonstrate their sustainability credentials and indicate how the project will complement the targets in the forthcoming Climate Action Plan".

The Irish government are working hard to support start-ups and entrepreneurs in recent months now that the pandemic is in our rear-view mirror with a recent publication in the Irish Times. At GagaMuller Group, we know how difficult it is in the early days during the start-up journey in the construction industry and for this reason we aim to ensure that other emerging start-ups get recognition and support by publishing funds such as this.

Since our success in securing funding, we have been contacted by construction industry leaders and other governing bodies to ask our advice on how we achieved this. The Call 4 has just passed and thanks to our disruptive nature to break down the walls of what's possible other construction firms have now applied for this fund through our recommendations and guidance. We are hoping more construction firms make use of this brilliant fund and we are happy to assist in this.

With the help of Enterprise Ireland in recent months clients, investors and developers are beginning to fully understand our service offering and what GagaMuller Group can save them both in CAPEX and OPEX, as we are trusted globally by some of the largest organisations in the world including Fortune 500 IT Giants.
